Juniper(Game Jam Project) - My First Game Project

As one of the two artists, I was mainly responsible for game background art and item design. I was in charge of most of the art design in this game. This was my first time participating in game production as an artist to experience how a game was created, and the purpose was to participate in the Global Game Jam in early 2023. I mainly used Procreate and Photoshop.
Responsibilities included:
Responsible for creating the backgrounds of all levels
Created visual assets for game covers
Created interactive object art
Created level fore-background and obstacles art
Created level decoration items art
Kept communicating and exchanging ideas with other members
Backstory:
Juniper (PC) is the daughter of Evienne, the Mother Tree.
Evienne created a daughter out of nature to pass on her wisdom and care for the flora and fauna of Liande.
She has taught her daughter the wonders and dangers of the world.
This will be the dialogue style (i.e. first steps is how to jump.)
Now, Juniper is old enough to make her own decisions, yet Evienne holds her back from assuming her place as an immortal being.
Juniper does not view Evienne as a protector, but as a dictator.
Evienne does not view Juniper as grown, but as a seed.




The win condition is to collect 3 roots and return to the heart chamber to heal the heart.


The reason for creating a new one was that this version was too small. I also wanted to use a watercolor style to show a more colorful scene underground.

When the player first got into this level, the heart chamber has broke until the player collected three roots.










The heart in the heart chamber. I used the flowers to indicate the heart belonged to Mother Tree, which was different from the normal heart shape.
Interact Objects






I used roots to indicate the obstacle because I think that is the way Mother Tree tried to block the player. Because she didn't want to hurt her daughter but needed to block her.
